Urban Community Project provides a lifeline to the BME community in Glasgow.

Through culturally aware support, we help individuals and families navigate challenges that are often left unspoken – racism, identity, belonging, mental health, and intergenerational conflict. Whether you’re a young person seeking guidance or a parent unsure how to help, we’re here to listen, act, and support.

About Us

We work where mainstream services often fall short – especially for Muslim and BAME communities. Our services are tailored, discreet, and rooted in lived experience. From mental health and youth support to community-building, our mission is to prevent long-term harm and build safer, more confident lives.

If someone you know is struggling with mental health, identity, isolation, or family issues – refer them to us. We support Muslim and BAME youth and families through culturally sensitive counselling and community-based interventions.

Testimonials

I didn’t feel like I could talk to anyone about how I was feeling - not at home, not at uni. UCP gave me a space where I could just breathe and be heard. My counsellor understood where I was coming from, culturally and emotionally. It made all the difference.

Zainab, 21 Youth Counselling Client

We were going through a really hard time as a family. My son was shutting down and we didn’t know what to do. UCP came to our home, listened without judgement, and helped us find a way forward. They really care and that’s rare.

Imran, 39 Parent Referred to Crisis Intervention

I used to stay in my room a lot and just not talk to people. The UCP group was the first place I felt like I could actually be myself without being judged. We laugh, we learn, and it’s actually fun. I’ve made real friends here.

Samira, 15 12-15 Youth Group Member

"Finding mental health support that actually gets where you're coming from as a Muslim woman is nearly impossible. UCP was a lifeline. No awkwardness, no assumptions just support that understood me.”

Aaliyah, 25 Self-Referral for Mental Health Support
